On June 17th, 2000 (Icelandic National Day), a group of local friends started Halldórskaffí. At first the little coffee house offered simple fare: waffles, soups, cakes and Icelandic flatbread. Later, the friends added pizzas and hamburgers to the menu.
Since that time, Halldórskaffí has continued to grow. We now offer a wide array of local cuisine from cured lamb to pan-fried arctic char. The café restaurant is a favorite of both locals and visitors who enjoy the cozy, intimate atmosphere and a distinct “family” feeling. Lunchtime is often busy as travelers grab a Halldórsburger or a Hot Lava pizza to fuel the next leg of their journey. In the evening, main courses flow out of the kitchen by the dozen, especially fresh cod from Hella and char from Fagridalur.
Today, Halldórskaffí is a local landmark rich in history and heart. We hope you’ll come in for a great meal and walk out with a great memory.
