The Folk Museum at Mánárbakki was opened in June 1995 in Þórshamar, a building which was transported from Húsavík to Mánárbakki. The premises have now been extended, and a three gabled farm house built. This new building, called Lækjarbakki, now contains the exhibits which, due to lack of space, could not be housed at Þórshamar.
The museum is open daily from June to August, and by arrangement at other times.
