Laxness Museum

Gljúfrasteinn was the home and workplace of Halldór Laxness, the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1955, and his family for more than half a century. It has now been opened to the public as a museum, unchanged from when Laxness lived there. A multimedia presentation about the life and work of Halldór Laxness is on show in the museum. Laxness lived for almost the entire 20th century and his life and work reflect the cultural, political and intellectual movements that shook and transformed the world.
